According to the History and Politics service of the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA), Abdolhossein Mirza Farmanfarma was one of the prominent Qajar princes, a descendant of Abbas Mirza Nayeb-ol-Saltaneh, and his father was also an influential figure during the Naserian era. Although he did not live in our time and is separated from us by more than a century, his views on politics, culture, and family life are noteworthy.
The book ‘Farmanfarma’s Legacy’, a look at the life of Abdolhossein Mirza Farmanfarma, the donor of the Pasteur Institute of Iran, is the fourteenth book in the ‘Vaqf-pishgan’ (Pioneers of Endowment) series, compiled by Mahsa Rajabi Hamedani and published by Dirooz Publications, and has entered the book market.
This book, in six chapters, addresses topics such as the family life and fate of Abdolhossein Mirza Farmanfarma, his governmental position and relationships, the challenges of Abdolhossein Mirza’s life, the children of Abdolhossein Mirza Farmanfarma, the family letters of Abdolhossein Mirza Farmanfarma, the endowments of Abdolhossein Mirza Farmanfarma, and the Pasteur Institute of Iran as Abdolhossein Mirza’s most important endowment.
In the book’s introduction, Mahsa Rajabi describes the Farmanfarmaian family as one of Iran’s renowned and wealthy families and writes: “The political, economic, and cultural influence of this family throughout the Qajar era and even thereafter is undeniable. Abdolhossein Mirza Farmanfarma is the most important and influential member of this family. Documenting his eventful life, as a powerful, influential, and shrewd man in the political arena, is important for several reasons.”
