Judges and nominees of the Seventh Simorgh Story Award were introduced
According to the reporter of the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) in Mashhad, based on the secretariat’s report, in this edition, 600 stories from inside and outside the country were reviewed by 6 judges (3 judges in the preliminary stage and 3 judges in the final stage) over a period of 5 months. The judges initially selected 48 authors from the national section and 15 authors from the regional section in a longlist, then announced the semi-final list comprising 24 authors from the national section and 10 authors from the regional section. Now, 4 selected authors from the national section and 4 selected authors from the regional section have reached the final stage of the ‘Seventh Biennial Simorgh Story Award of Neyshabur.’
The judges of the selection committee included Mojtaba Hajbari, Masoumeh Dehnavi, and Masoud Asgharnejad Balouchi, and the judges of the final committee were Siavash Golshiri, Behnaz Alipour Gaskari, and Majid Nasrabadi. The secretary for this edition of the Simorgh Story Award was Mostafa Bayan.
Final nominees in the national section, in alphabetical order:
- “From Blood” by Manouchehr Zarepour from Germany
- “Fish Without Scales” by Amin Sepahvand from Qom
- “Meadow” by Negar Kazemian from Izeh, Khuzestan
- “The Abyss” by Fatemeh Delia Montazeri from the USA
Final nominees in the regional section (special for Neyshabur writers), in alphabetical order:
- “Suspension Bridge” by Reza Asadi
- “Treatise of Desires” by Somayeh Katebi
- “Between Two Mountains” by Amirhossein Sa’adati
- “The Ladder” by Maryam Tajvar
According to the call for submissions, the awards for this literary prize in the national section include the Simorgh statue and a 20 million Toman prize for the selected winner, with a certificate of appreciation and one million Toman also awarded to three honorable mentions. In the regional section (special for Neyshabur writers), the selected winner receives the Simorgh statue and 10 million Toman, with a certificate of appreciation and one million Toman also awarded to three honorable mentions.
Additionally, 8 selected stories will be published in an independent collection.
The time and place for the final ceremony of the ‘Seventh Simorgh Story Award of Neyshabur’ will be announced to the public later.
