Book Signing Ceremony and Honoring Mehdi Ghabraei Held in His Hometown, Langarud
According to the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) in Langarud, this session was held in appreciation of several decades of continuous literary activity and the translation of prominent works of world literature, as well as choices that have each found a special place among Iranian audiences. Works such as ‘Blindness,’ which has been printed in over a hundred thousand copies, ‘The Kite Runner,’ and ‘Kafka on the Shore,’ each printed twenty times, are among Ghabraei’s notable works. However, in the translator’s own opinion, his two most prominent and beloved works are ‘The Waves’ by Virginia Woolf and ‘The Notebooks of Malte Laurids Brigge’ by Maria Rilke, which hold a special place.
The ceremony was attended by cultural and art figures from Gilan. In the initial part of the session, Mehdi Ghabraei expressed his joy at being present in his hometown and meeting with cultural figures, delivering a short speech. A short video was also shown, including a brief introduction to him and the translated works by members of the Ghabraei family, including Farhad and Hadi Ghabraei.
Figures in the literary field also sent video messages in appreciation of Mehdi Ghabraei, which were played during the session; among them were Mohammad Hoseinizad, Farid Ghadami, Mohammad Hashem Akbariani, and Pashootan Albouyeh.
Niloufar Bookstore, managed by Rouhollah Hasanpour, with over two decades of activity in the book sector, is one of the main references for the Ghabraei family’s works in Langarud and has played an effective role in introducing these works to the younger generation by holding book reading sessions and reviews of various works.
