Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults has 40 hectares of library space across the country
Hamed Alamati, in an interview with a reporter from the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) in Semnan, referred to the more than 60-year history of the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (Kanoon) in the country. He stated that books have been the core of all programs at this institute from the beginning until now, to the extent that no program is held in this complex unless books are central to it.
He noted that 45 books will be published this year by the General Directorate of Publications of Kanoon for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults of our country. He added that 36 titles have been released so far, with the remainder currently under publication, and this number will increase for their unveiling at next year’s Tehran Book Fair.
The CEO of Kanoon for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults of the country stated that there are over four thousand instructors in various capacities within Kanoon. He mentioned that these instructors collaborate with Kanoon for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults across the country in various artistic, cultural, educational, and other fields.
Alamati further stated that there are also 1,053 cultural, artistic, and literary centers within the Kanoon for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults nationwide. He noted that nearly 13 million volumes of books are available in these centers for toddlers, children, and young adults to use.
He also declared that Kanoon for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults possesses over 40 hectares of library space. He added that approximately 200 mobile cultural and artistic centers also operate within the Kanoon for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults of Iran, which are tasked with providing services to less privileged areas.
The CEO of Kanoon for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults of our country additionally stated: These mobile centers strive to bring books to rural children and to less privileged areas on the outskirts of cities, thereby taking fundamental steps in promoting a culture of reading.
Alamati also alluded to Kanoon’s scientific activities, noting: Those who were members of Kanoon in the past and whose children are now members will recall that scientific classes in astronomy were dedicated to limited fields, but now 12 scientific disciplines, ranging from artificial intelligence to computer science and astronomy, have been established under Kanoon’s scientific vice-presidency.
