Strengthening the Position of Persian Language and Literature through Synergy among Institutions
According to the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA), Seyed Abbas Salehi, Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, met and discussed with a group of writers and poets on Tuesday (November 17) on the occasion of Iran’s 33rd Book Week.
During this meeting, Salehi stated that there was a void for a leading and coordinating institution for the Persian language within the country’s cultural governance structure. He said: “Although numerous government bodies, academies, state media, and popular organizations are active in this field, the absence of a coordinating center has prevented policymaking, necessary legislation, and macro-level oversight from proceeding coherently.”
He added: “The elevation of the previous structure, which operated as a low-authority secretariat, to an ‘Independent Office of Persian Language’ can fill this void and, by creating synergy among institutions, provide the groundwork for drafting necessary regulations and laws and strengthening the position of Persian language and literature as one of the most important pillars of national identity.”
The full details of this meeting will be published.
