Unveiling of the Book ‘The Meaning of Traditional Life in Yazdi Dialect’ / Presence of ‘Good Children’ at Azar Yazdi’s Grave

According to the correspondent of Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) in Yazd, various programs were held by cultural institutions of Yazd province simultaneously with the Islamic Republic Book Week and its third day.

Unveiling of the book ‘The Meaning of Traditional Life in Yazdi Dialect’

On the third day of Book and Reading Week, the unveiling ceremony of the book ‘The Meaning of Traditional Life in Yazdi Dialect’ authored by Leila Ghazvinian was held.

The Director General of Culture and Islamic Guidance, at this ceremony, stated that books are the oldest human media that have carried the mission of human knowledge and wisdom for many years, adding: “It is through books that we discover the secrets of music and art.”

Hujjat al-Islam Abbas Daneshian stated: “Leila Ghazvinian’s book is important because it has used the Yazdi dialect in a work related to Yazd.”

The Director General of Documents and National Library of Yazd Province also said at the ceremony: “The Yazdi dialect book is important because it conveys the meaning of Yazdi life to the audience in the Yazdi dialect, and this work is a cultural ethnography.”

Saeed Zare, stating that today, in the 33rd Islamic Republic Book Week, we are faced with the question of what we have done to promote and develop this culture, added: “Bringing books into people’s lives is the way to promote the culture of books and reading, and unveiling ceremonies are held with this goal.”

Leila Ghazvinian, the author of ‘The Meaning of Traditional Life in Yazdi Dialect,’ while describing the features of the book, which details Yazd’s customs, handicrafts, water reservoirs, way of life, and Yazd’s bazaars with an approach of recounting memories from her grandmother, Lady Moshtaghioon, added: “The purpose of writing this book is to preserve the authenticities, dialects, type of architecture, qanats, and all indicators of Yazdi life in the past.”

She also cited expressing the courage and resilience of forgotten mothers throughout Yazd’s history as another goal of writing the book.

Ashkazar Students at the Grave of the Late Azar Yazdi

A group of students from Ashkazar county, in an initiative called the ‘Good Children’ camp, honored Book Week by visiting the grave of the late Azar Yazdi.

During this camp, students listened to their school principal’s talks and became familiar with the life and personality of this author, who is considered the ‘father of Iranian children’s and youth literature.’ After reciting Fatiha and Quran, students read a part of the book ‘Good Stories for Good Children’ and read a story from their own books that they had brought with them to their friends.

Reading Competition for Male Prisoners on the Occasion of Book Week

On the occasion of Book and Reading Week, a cultural reading competition for male prisoners was held in Yazd Central Prison. This program was implemented with the aim of promoting the culture of reading, strengthening individual skills, and creating motivation among the inmates.

At the end of this reading competition, gifts were presented to the top participants by the Cultural and Educational Department.
