Visit of the Deputy of Economy and Culture of the Book House to Leila Mehr Library

According to the correspondent of Iran Book News Agency (IBNA), on the occasion of Book and Reading Week, Dr. Mehdi Mohseni, Deputy of Economy and Culture of Iran’s Book and Literature House, visited the Leila Mehr Public Library and Book Promotion Center in Vashnam Dari, a book-loving village in Chabahar County. The visit aimed to evaluate promotional reading activities and familiarize with the cultural capacities of the region. This program was held with the presence of local officials, cultural activists, families, and students.

The ceremony began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by one of the students, followed by a performance by the Iran Choir. Subsequently, children and teenagers from Vashnam Dari village, as the main focus of the library’s cultural programs, performed various segments including Shahnameh reading, singing, recitations, and sharing book reading experiences. These activities, which are the result of the library’s continuous efforts to strengthen the culture of reading, were welcomed and specially noted by the guests.

In the next part of the program, Dr. Mohseni congratulated on Book and Reading Week and praised the activities of Leila Mehr Library and the active participation of students. He emphasized the importance of developing cultural justice, highlighting the crucial role of public libraries in strengthening reading identity and educating the young generation, and stressed the continuation of such programs in rural areas. He also called the children’s efforts in performing the programs valuable and encouraged them to continue their path of reading and cultural activities.

At the end of this visit, the Deputy of Iran’s Book and Literature House announced that, with the aim of educational support and strengthening study resources, 200 educational books will soon be donated to high school girls in the village; an action that can play an effective role in improving the educational level and developing the culture of reading in this region.

This ceremony was held with the presence of families and active participation of children, and as one of the prominent programs of Book Week in the region, it played an important role in the continuation and strengthening of the reading movement in Vashnam Dari, a book-loving village.
