A character enters historical periods by opening each book from a mysterious library / Unveiling of the book ‘Castle of a Thousand Passages’
According to KhabarOnline news agency, quoting the public relations of the work, ‘Castle of a Thousand Passages’, the latest work by Babak Mohammadi – an Iranian musician, music researcher, and author – has been published as a novel. Mohammadi gained prominence with his well-known novel ‘The Trial of Eternity’.
In this novel, the main character, by opening each book from a mysterious library, enters a historical period and meets figures such as Plato, Avicenna, Khayyam, Da Vinci, Galileo, and Newton. Having been active for years in research and playing percussion instruments, he narrates these encounters with a special rhythm. However, a more distinct part of the work is his entry into periods where figures like Cyrus the Great, Jesus Christ, Genghis Khan, and even Hitler are present; confrontations that lead to philosophical dialogues about power, ethics, violence, freedom, and truth.
This musician, active in the field of writing, says about the formation of the book: ‘In this novel, I tried to show that history is not just a collection of narratives; rather, it is the result of humanity’s constant struggle with difficult choices. Choices that sometimes build civilizations and sometimes cause great destruction.’
‘Castle of a Thousand Passages’, by combining philosophical concepts, mythical narratives, and sections close to the surreal style, creates a unique journey through time and seeks a fundamental question: If contemporary humans were to face influential figures from the past again, what dialogue would unfold between them?
In addition to his literary activities, this musician and music researcher has a record of authoring the books ‘The Daf Playing Method’ and ‘Music in Iran’ (both from Mehrravash Publishers) and is active as a lyricist in Persian, Lori, and Laki languages; works that have been performed by prominent singers from Lorestan and the country. This musical and literary background has made Mohammadi’s artistic signature evident in the storytelling of this novel.
Babak Mohammadi, alongside his literary and musical activities, also has experience in charcoal painting and portrait design.
This novel has been published by Pishook Publications, and its print version is now available in online stores. Also, the English version of the book has been released on Amazon, and the official page of this work is active on Goodreads.
