Mazandaran Book Fair Opened

According to the reporter of Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) in Sari, the Mazandaran Book Fair started on Saturday morning at the convention hall of the General Department of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Mazandaran.

At the opening ceremony of this exhibition, the Director General of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Mazandaran told reporters: Efforts have been made to present various books in different fields including children and teenagers, political, religious, and psychology at this exhibition, and currently, 5,000 titles of books in 25,000 volumes are offered at this exhibition, and the number of titles will increase in the coming days.

Mohammad Mohammadi added: Today, with the expansion of cyberspace, the tendency to read books, especially textual books, has decreased worldwide. Therefore, holding such exhibitions can pave the way for people, especially the new generation, to return to printed books.

He also referred to the holding of side programs for this exhibition and continued: During the days of this exhibition, we will witness programs such as book launches, book review sessions, and specialized meetings in the field of books and reading.

Mohammadi stated that most of the titles presented in this exhibition are in the field of children and teenagers, and expressed hope: We hope that the exhibition will be well received by schools and families and that our children will become more familiar with the culture of books and reading.

The Necessity of Attention to the Needs of Child and Adolescent Audiences in the Field of Books

During a visit to this exhibition, the Head of Mazandaran Management and Planning Organization also expressed satisfaction with the holding of this book exhibition in a gathering of reporters and said: One of the attractions of the Mazandaran Book Fair is the works presented in the field of provincial culture.

Abdolreza Karimpour emphasized that continuous efforts should be made to strengthen the culture of reading, adding: Currently, we are facing a new society whose inclination towards books is not like past generations, and we must have thoughts and ideas for this generation.

He continued: The books offered in the children and teenager section must be appropriate to the taste and needs of the child and adolescent audience, and of course, meeting these needs must be with a special focus on our country’s rich culture, and as much as possible, we should distance ourselves from foreign culture and move towards our own culture.

Karimpour also emphasized the necessity of supporting the provincial culture and said: Actions have started at the provincial level to specially support the rich culture of Mazandaran, among which is the effort to finalize the printing of the Tabari Cultural Encyclopedia, for which all provinces in the Tabarestan region are to contribute to its publication and funding so that this precious work can be printed.

The Head of Mazandaran Management and Planning Organization added: Other actions in this regard include the donation of the Tabarestan Encyclopedia as a special award for the “Shahid Rajaee” festival, which was held for the first time this year. In this regard, this valuable collection was given as a special award to the top organizations.

The Mazandaran Book Fair will host visitors daily from Saturday, November 15th to Wednesday, November 26th, 2025, from 8 AM to 8 PM.
