Book Week Programs in Zanjan; From Exhibition to Intimate Meetings with Literati
The Deputy for Cultural Affairs of the General Department of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Zanjan Province, in an interview with the correspondent of the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) in Zanjan, emphasized the central slogan of Book Week, which is ‘Let’s Read for Iran’, and stated: ‘Our goal in this period is not merely to hold symbolic programs, but rather we strive to integrate books more than ever into people’s lives and turn reading into a daily and enjoyable habit for them.’
Referring to the most important programs of this week, he added: ‘Scenting and dusting the tombs of poets and artists, and organizing a book exhibition with the participation of cultural institutions are among these programs.’
Khatami emphasized that holding a book exhibition for Zanjan province publishers can play a significant role in introducing active authors and publishers of the province. He stated: ‘The role of the province’s publishers in this program will be more prominent than ever, and in this regard, we also plan to honor the servants of publishing in Zanjan province.’
The Deputy for Cultural Affairs of the General Department of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Zanjan Province referred to a friendly meeting with literary associations and said that in order to commemorate the activities of literary associations and strengthen the bond between cultural institutions and literati in this program, there will be visits to the province’s literary associations.
He also listed holding specialized workshops in the fields of poetry, storytelling, and children’s and young adult fiction as other programs of Book Week in Zanjan and said: ‘We strive to practically nurture young talents.’
Khatami highlighted special attention to virtual space by holding online book reading competitions as one of the cultural deputy’s programs and said: ‘The possibility of participation for enthusiasts across the province will be provided with this program.’
The Deputy for Cultural Affairs of the General Department of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Zanjan Province announced the unveiling of three books published in Zanjan province as another program for this week.
He considered maximum participation as the key to the success of this event and stated: ‘Close cooperation with literary associations, private cultural institutions, and also utilizing the capacities of universities like Farhangian University shows that this year’s Book Week will be a comprehensive and participation-oriented event.’
Referring to promotional programs among the young generation, Khatami noted: ‘Programs such as “storytelling and narration” in cities, “Book of Knowledge campaign” in schools, and “Haiku Book competition” at Farhangian University are aimed at institutionalizing the culture of reading from the grassroots level and among all segments of society, especially among students and new teachers.’
He said: ‘With coherent and comprehensive planning, Zanjan province is ready to hold the vibrant programs of the 33rd Book Week of the Islamic Republic of Iran.’
