Continued Fluctuations in Paper Prices in the Market

According to the Culture and Publishing Service of the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA), the paper market experienced various ups and downs this week, on the eve of the 33rd Book Week. The price of writing paper, one of the most important necessities for those active in the printing and publishing industry, saw decreases in some weights and increases in others this week.

Market monitoring indicates that although prices have risen, paper scarcity was not the primary factor; rather, the impact of currency fluctuations played a significant role in the price increase. Furthermore, import policies, foreign currency allocation, and external economic factors can also be cited as main drivers.

A look at the paper market on the last trading day shows that each ream of 70-gram writing paper, 100×70 cm, has reached 2 million Tomans, a decrease of about 150,000 Tomans compared to last week.

However, each ream of 70-gram Chinese paper, 60×90 cm, increased by 50,000 Tomans compared to last week, being offered at 1,800,000 Tomans in the market.

Amidst market fluctuations, 80-gram paper generally experienced the fewest changes, but the domino effect of price increases over the past two weeks also reached these papers. The 70×100 cm size was traded at approximately 2,420,000 Tomans, and the 60×90 cm size of 80-gram paper was sold for 1,850,000 Tomans per ream.

Also, the price per kilogram of 250-gram grey-back cardboard is 85,000 Tomans, 180-gram is 84,000 Tomans per kilogram, 230-gram is 85,000 Tomans per kilogram, and 250-gram is 84,000 Tomans per kilogram.

Coated paper with a grammage of 128 grams, 100×70 cm size, was priced at 90,000 to 95,000 Tomans per kilogram. The 250-gram, 70×100 cm size was 108,000 Tomans, the 300-gram, 70×100 cm size was approximately 109,000 Tomans, and the 200-gram, 70×100 cm size was also 109,000 Tomans.

A look at other raw materials in the printing and publishing sector shows that Iranian cold binding glue was traded at 2,850,000 Tomans, and hot glue at 320,000 Tomans per kilogram. Isopropyl alcohol produced in the Netherlands was announced at 140,000 to 150,000 Tomans per kilogram, and isopropyl alcohol produced in Korea at 160,000 Tomans.

The price of two-sheet printing plates (zinc), depending on brand and country of origin, was traded at 200,000 to 220,000 Tomans in the market, showing no increase compared to the past two weeks.

Furthermore, each kilogram of Iranian colored coated ink is available in the market for 470,000 Tomans, black coated ink for 365,000 Tomans, Iranian colored writing ink for 403,000 Tomans, and Iranian black writing ink for 315,000 Tomans.
