Selections from the Life of Imam Reza (AS) in the Book ‘Sultan Mehr’
Living under the shadow of Imam Reza (AS), the Imam of kindness, is a precious opportunity that Mashhad residents benefit from. Being neighbors with the sun is not only a spiritual advantage but also places a cultural responsibility on us—a responsibility that gains meaning through greater understanding of this great Imam and the dissemination of Razavi teachings. Knowing the character, conduct, teachings, and virtues of Imam Reza (AS) is not only important for enhancing individual faith and knowledge but also serves as a guiding light for society in achieving ethical and humanistic role models. In this path, books play a vital role as the best enlightening and lasting tools.
Razavi literature, with its treasury of valuable books in the fields of history, conduct, theology, and literature, introduces us to various dimensions of Imam Reza (AS)’s life and his teachings. Introducing these works, especially for us who live near his shrine, is a double necessity. These books are inspirations for today and guiding lights for the future. In the series of articles “Wednesdays with Imam Reza’s Books,” we will strive to introduce prominent books written about Imam Reza (AS) and their authors, ranging from biographies and historical research to literary and fictional works, each of which can open a new window to the horizons of Razavi knowledge.

Introduction to the Book “Sultan Mehr”
The book “Sultan Mehr,” which includes selections from the life of Imam Reza (AS), has been written by Mahboubeh Zare. In this work, various stages of the eighth Imam’s life are explained, including: “From birth and life in Medina to the period of the seventh Imam’s (AS) captivity in the prisons of the Abbasid caliphs,” “From the beginning of the Imamate to the sinister plots of Ma’mun and the forced invitation to Khorasan,” and “From the boundless longing of Iranian Shias to the sorrow of the martyrdom of Sultan Mehr.”
“Sultan Mehr” represents words of reverence that humble themselves before the scholar of the family of Muhammad (PBUH) and aim to narrate pages from the life of the eighth Wali (guardian) of God, Imam Reza (AS). This is because history passes, and the world undergoes continuous change.
Only one thing remains constant, and that one thing is the phrase “La ilaha illallah” (There is no god but Allah), which is the enduring fortress of God. A conditional fortress, of which “Sultan Mehr” is one of its eternal conditions.
The book “Sultan Mehr” has been published by Boostan-e Ketab Qom.
