Call for the First Kermanshah Literary Award to Be Published Soon

The Director General of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Kermanshah Province, in an interview with the correspondent of Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) in Kermanshah, highlighted the importance of cultural and artistic events for the growth and prosperity of Kermanshah Province. He stated that holding the Kermanshah Literary Award was among the approvals of a meeting with the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, which fortunately received the endorsement of the Cultural Deputy of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance.

He added that literary awards play a significant role in the literary development of any province and region. This award, too, can play a pivotal role in the future literature of Kermanshah Province and foster the promotion of poetry and fiction within the province.

The Director General of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Kermanshah Province pointed out the goals of this event, including: promoting and advancing local literature, identifying and introducing literary talents, strengthening cultural identity, emphasizing Kermanshah’s literary and cultural heritage and striving to preserve and expand it through literary works, creating motivation among writers, establishing a communication network among writers, supporting the publication of literary works, supporting innovation in literature, creating a platform for the growth of modern literature inspired by Kermanshah’s literary traditions, honoring the great figures of Kermanshah’s culture and literature, and supporting publishers.

Teymouri further explained that the first Kermanshah Provincial Literary Award will be held in various sections, including fictional literature (novels and short stories), Persian poetry (classical, modern, and free verse), Kurdish poetry (classical, modern, and free verse), and children’s and young adult literature (poetry and fiction). The children’s and young adult literature section will be organized in cooperation with the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults.

The Director General of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Kermanshah Province clarified that in this event, which is dedicated to works published from Persian year 1401 to Esfand 1403, Kermanshah poets and storytellers can submit their works to the festival secretariat.

He continued: In line with supporting provincial publishers and in accordance with the slogan of the economy of culture and art, valuable decisions have been made. For instance, poets whose poetry and fiction books have been published by provincial publishers can submit their works to this event. Secondly, any work that is selected will result in appreciation not only for the poet but also for its publisher.

The Director General of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Kermanshah Province noted that the Kermanshah Literary Award should be considered one of the most important literary events in the province in recent decades. He stated that the call for this literary event will be published in the coming days, and he hopes this event will be a new step towards strengthening Kermanshah’s literature.

He also referred to the stature of Master Mohammad Javad Mohabbat, adding that this edition of the Literary Award is being held in memory of Master Mohammad Javad Mohabbat, and in future years, it will be named after other poets and literary figures.

He further mentioned that Master Mohammad Javad Mohabbat is a prominent figure in the field of Iranian literature, one of the few poets whose most poems have been published in textbooks.

The Director General of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Kermanshah Province concluded by expressing gratitude for the cooperation and collaboration of the General Directorate of the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults in organizing this event.
