Adib was not hurt by criticism

According to the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA), the 41st session of the “One Hundred Enduring Books of the Century” program series was held at the Organization’s International Convention Center. This program hosted a scientific meeting on “A Guide to Preparing a Book”; an event dedicated to re-examining the scientific and linguistic legacy of the late Mir Shamseddin Adib-Soltani, with the presence of prominent researchers and editors of the country. At this meeting, Hormoz Homayounpour, a researcher and translator, and Gholamreza Zakiani, a faculty member of Allameh Tabataba’i University, spoke about the scientific and linguistic significance of this work. Aref Khoramshahi, a researcher and editor, was in charge of the program’s scientific secretariat.

At the beginning of the program, the scientific secretary of the meeting, referring to the distinguished position of “A Guide to Preparing a Book” in the field of editing and publishing, said: “This book, alongside the famous work ‘Let’s Not Write Incorrectly,’ is one of the reference books for editors and translators; a book that should be on the desk of anyone who deals with words. In fact, Adib-Soltani, by translating and compiling this work, adapted the Chicago Manual of Style to the requirements of the Persian language and created the first comprehensive source for scientific compilation and publishing in Iran.”

Khoramshahi, referring to the author’s scientific and linguistic characteristics, added: “Adib-Soltani was one of the prominent contemporary figures in the fields of philosophy, translation, and linguistics, and his knowledge of English, French, German, Latin, Greek, and Pahlavi languages served as the basis for his research in etymology and the writing of his specialized works.”
