Why and How the Global Organization ‘BRICS’ Pays Attention to Literature

According to the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA), BRICS is the name of a global international organization, with members including Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Bolivia, Nigeria, and Iran. This organization was formed in 2009 to highlight investment opportunities, bilateral relations, and mutual assistance by emerging economic powers, specifically Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. Other countries, including Iran in 2024, gradually joined it.

One of the interesting aspects of BRICS is the holding of competitive events in the field of poetry and fiction. This has led Asre Roshan to dedicate one of its sessions to the reason behind this economic organization’s attention to the subject of literature. It will also be explained that participation in BRICS literary activities is possible through both governmental and non-governmental channels. Furthermore, the non-governmental entity “BRICS Writers’ Association in Iran” will announce its existence.

This session, which will include poetry readings by a group of poets, the introduction of some newly published poetry books, and discussions among literature and music enthusiasts from various cities, will be held on Friday, November 13, 2025 (Aban 23, 1404) at 5 PM in the Master Amirkkhani Hall of the Iranian Artists’ Forum.
