Caring for the Body for Spiritual Well-being

According to a reporter from the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA), connecting with one’s body and understanding its needs and sensitivities will resolve many human challenges in adulthood. Even in childhood, if children know they can set boundaries for their physical touch and not worry about being in society if they have a deficiency or defect, they can better deal with the problems they face.

The book ‘My Amazing Body’ uses childlike poetry to teach children that they should love their bodies and respect them. In a way, the deeper layers of this book’s poems also teach children gratitude for health, and alongside that, it reminds them of the important point that even if there is a defect in the human body, one can understand its various aspects and strive for a more effective presence in society.

For example, in a part of this book, we read:

‘At the club or at home, jump, run, skip rope,
With athletic exercises, give power to this body.
If the body gets active, it’s much better,
Like a race car, it should go really fast.’

Or in another part of this poem, it says:

‘Caresses, kisses, and hugs, which come from love and friendship,
From mom and dad, feel really good.
But whenever you don’t want to be in contact with someone,
Say no to them, even to a friend or classmate.’

‘My Amazing Body’ was written by Becky Cummings and illustrated by Najla Shojaei. Lily Sayamian Gorji translated it into childlike poetry for children. Mehrsa Publications has also made it available to interested readers for 98,000 Tomans.
