Let’s Bring Books to the People / Mobile Library, a Praiseworthy Idea

Mohammad Reza Avani, on the sidelines of his trip to Shahrood city and following a visit to the “White Hoopoe” mobile bus library, told a correspondent of the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) in Shahrood: “Mobile libraries offer good opportunities for people in different parts of the city.”

He emphasized that managers and officials should use these initiatives to provide reading opportunities for a greater number of people in society, adding: “Increasing the per capita reading rate in the country is a necessity.”

This university lecturer and enduring figure of philosophy stated that books should be brought to the people, saying: “Ideas like mobile libraries are praiseworthy because they bring books into the community.”

Avani noted that today, the congestion of cities, the distance to libraries, traffic delays, and the issues of large cities have caused some people to forgo visiting libraries. He said: “Mobile libraries bring books among the people and make them accessible, which is a valuable action.”

He added that the ‘White Hoopoe’ library, launched in Shahrood, is one of the good plans for promoting reading. “You succeed in engaging people with books when they see the presence of books in their living areas.”

This university professor stated that mobile libraries are a great service to reading, saying: “Promoting this idea in different cities can be very effective.”

Avani stated: “In many cities like Tehran, we see that despite all the crowds, traffic, and delays, people visit libraries and have to wait a long time in queues to get a book. However, multiple access points to books, such as small and mobile libraries, can facilitate people’s access to books.”
