Details of Jahangiri’s meeting with Sardar Soleimani and Taeb about Seyed Mohammad Khatami / A mission that remained incomplete with the martyrdom of Haj Qassem
According to KhabarOnline news agency, a new account of Es’haq Jahangiri’s meeting with martyr Sardar Haj Qassem Soleimani and Hossein Taeb, then head of the IRGC Intelligence Organization, concerning the resolution of Seyed Mohammad Khatami’s political restrictions, has been published for the first time in a section of Es’haq Jahangiri’s memoirs, the first vice-president of the eleventh and twelfth governments, titled ‘In Thought of Iran’.
According to Jamaran, Jahangiri wrote on pages 247 and 248 of the book: ‘After Mr. Tabasi’s passing, I raised the issue of lifting Mr. Khatami’s restrictions with martyr Soleimani. He was someone with whom I had a close relationship, and during the first term of the government, we had a lunch meeting at my office once a month. In those meetings, we also discussed internal issues. I told him to help resolve Mr. Khatami’s issue. The Sardar welcomed it, and a meeting was held at his office. In addition to the two of us, Mr. Taeb was also present. The meeting was on a Friday morning over breakfast, and it was decided that only Mr. Khatami’s matter would be discussed. A good consensus was reached, and everyone had a mission that needed to be followed up.’
