Reading Conditions Should Be Provided in Classrooms

According to the correspondent of Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) in Hamedan, Hamidreza Hajibabaei stated on Saturday afternoon at the unveiling ceremony of the poster for the 33rd Book Week, emphasizing that no technology can replace books and pens: Technology is useful, but nothing reaches the depth and impact of a book.

The Deputy Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly noted: The prosperity of any country depends on its attention to education, as the roots of economy, culture, and societal excellence lie in schools.

He continued: We have proposed that in every classroom, a small library with a librarian should be established so that students become familiar with books from the very beginning, because the more widespread reading becomes in the country, the brighter our future will be.

Hajibabaei, referring to the importance of the elementary education stage in the country’s educational structure, added: All good things start from school, and the foundation of education and upbringing is formed during the elementary period.

Referring to the issue of Thursday holidays, he said: There were various viewpoints on this matter, but today we have concluded that two days of holiday increase opportunities for family joy and bonding. Thursday should be a family day, as the role of family in the upbringing and tranquility of society is key and decisive.

Hajibabaei appreciated the efforts and programs of the General Directorate of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Hamedan Province in promoting the culture of reading and organizing consistent Book Week programs.

Reading Culture Should Be Institutionalized in Educational Environments

The Deputy Political and Security Governor of Hamedan also, emphasizing the role of reading in students’ intellectual development, said: Read the books you have more and use the opportunity of reading to build a brighter future.

Hamzeh Amraei, referring to this year’s Book Week slogan ‘Read for Iran,’ added: Students and school administrators should make this slogan the motto of their activities and institutionalize the culture of reading in educational environments.

He emphasized the important role of families and teachers in promoting reading culture, stating: If families encourage children to read from an early age and schools provide a dynamic environment for study, we will have an informed, questioning, and responsible society. Books can strengthen the bond between home, school, and society.

Books: The Key to Nurturing an Informed and Thoughtful Generation

The Director-General of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Hamedan Province also stated at the ceremony that books are the key to nurturing an informed and thoughtful generation, adding: Reading should become a continuous trend in society.

Seyyed Mohammadreza Javadi, emphasizing the importance of promoting reading culture among students, said: This event is an excuse to begin a series of programs and activities that the cultural institutions of the province will implement during Book Week and continuously throughout the year to develop and deepen the culture of reading.

Javadi announced the holding of book and reading competitions, the unveiling of newly published works during Hamedan Province’s Book Week, and added: Special cultural and artistic programs, festivals, and promotional campaigns focusing on the cultural institutions and educational bodies of the province will also be implemented.

He clarified that these programs lead to the expansion of cultural bridges between writers, publishers, and the younger generation, stating: Books play an important role in shaping the intellectual identity of society.

The Director-General of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Hamedan added: The promotion of reading should not be limited only to Book Week; rather, it should become a sustainable cultural movement in schools, universities, and families so that the future generation is nurtured with deeper thought, awareness, and insight.
