Allocation of 5 percent of Semnan’s park space for book promotion programs

Saeed Dehghanloo, in an interview with the correspondent of the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) in Semnan, announced the donation of a vehicle by the municipality for the launch of a mobile library in Semnan city, stating that this matter has been approved in the meeting of the Public Libraries Association of Semnan.

He also announced the allocation of five percent of the capacity of urban parks and green spaces for creating cultural areas, installing elements, and reading stations in Semnan as one of the cultural and promotional activities in this city.

The Director-General of Public Libraries of Semnan Province considered this action a promotional step towards enhancing reading, especially among children and young adults. He added that utilizing the capacity of philanthropists in cultural matters and bestowing the “Hamkhwan” (Co-reader) badge to executive bodies and individuals who walk hand-in-hand with public libraries are among other initiatives that will take place in Semnan city.

Dehghanloo further announced the approval for allocating a building and establishing a library in Kheirabad village by the village council in the Public Libraries Association of Semnan. He mentioned that regular payment of half a percent of municipal revenues to public libraries and follow-up for allocating land with cultural use in the Mehr Housing area and constructing a library there are among other actions on the agenda.

He also stated that the allocation of double the budget for public libraries in Semnan city compared to last year is another good news in the field of books. He added that another initiative they are pursuing is the allocation of local newspapers in 200 cafes across the city for interested individuals to promote beneficial reading.

The Director-General of Public Libraries of Semnan Province announced the redesign of the public library in Semnan city and an increase in annual membership fees in public libraries based on the directive issued by the Public Libraries Institution of the country. He also said that inviting officials to attend public libraries during Book and Reading Week has been put on the agenda.
