Ronald David Laing’s Knots available in Persian
TEHRAN – Renowned Scottish psychiatrist R. D. Laing’s 1970 experimental book of poetry and prose, “Knots”, has been translated into Persian by Behnam Jalali and published by Roshangaran and Motale’at Zanan Publications.
The book explores the complexities of human relationships and communication through a series of dialogues, poems, and aphorisms that expose the paradoxical and often self-defeating patterns of interaction within families and social groups. Laing, a prominent figure in the anti-psychiatry movement, uses a unique style to illustrate the intricate “knots” of confusion and misunderstanding that bind individuals.
“Knots” is not a conventional therapeutic text but rather an artistic and philosophical exploration of how people construct their realities and interact with others, often leading to mental distress. It gained significant attention for its unconventional approach to psychological concepts.
Behnam Jalali’s translation aims to introduce Persian readers to Laing’s influential work, making his insights into interpersonal dynamics accessible to a new audience. This publication marks another step in expanding the range of psychological and philosophical literature available in Persian.
