The Yazd House of Poetry and Literature Has Kept the Light of Culture Burning

The Yazd House of Poetry and Literature has been one of the province’s active cultural centers for the past two decades. In an interview with IBNA, its director, Mohammad Hadi Panahian, discussed the institution’s activities.

Regarding its history, Panahian said: “The Yazd House of Poetry and Literature began its work in 2002. At that time, it was a poetry-focused center under the supervision of the provincial Hozeh Honari (Art Bureau). Since 2021, it has expanded its scope to include literature and has continued its activities more robustly.”

He added: “We currently hold regular weekly sessions, including meetings for analyzing classic poetry, short story analysis, and a poetry workshop. The attendees are the general literary public of Yazd, and we are pleased that these sessions are well-received.”

Panahian stated that the center welcomes collaboration with other literary institutions and expressed hope for a bright future for Yazd’s culture and literature. He emphasized the importance of such cultural venues for nurturing young talent, noting: “Yazd has great potential in poetry and literature. My colleagues and I believe that by paying attention to young people, we can witness the emergence of nationally recognized figures from this city in the near future.”
