Tehran – IRNA – The news site “Asiaplus” of Tajikistan, in a report titled “Seven Centuries with Hafez,” wrote: For seven centuries, the East has lived with Hafez, and this great Persian-speaking poet is noted and beloved by all from Shiraz to Paris.
According to IRNA’s book correspondent, Asiaplus stated in this report, published on Tuesday, October 15th: For seven centuries, the East has lived with Hafez, and after several centuries, the West also joined the circle of his admirers.
The report states: Khwaja Shams-ud-Din Mohammad Hafez-e Shirazi is a great 14th-century Persian-speaking poet of world renown. One can hardly find a person in Iran and Tajikistan who has not read the Divan of Hafez or at least memorized a few of his verses.
Asiaplus continues: Hafez is known not only in Iran and Tajikistan but throughout the world. It is rare to find a home in Iran and Tajikistan without a Divan of Hafez. Iranians and Tajiks, according to their ancient customs, tell fortunes with the book of Hafez on national holidays or Nowruz.
The report emphasizes: Hafez is a bridge between Iranians and Tajiks. Today, not only the East but also the West is familiar with him. The tomb of Hafez in the city of Shiraz, known as Hafezieh, is one of Iran’s major tourist attractions and hosts a large number of the poet’s admirers from all over the world every year.
Asiaplus also mentioned: In France, many orientalists have researched Hafez and translated his works into French. In Paris, the capital of France, a street has been named after Hafez-e Shirazi.
