IBNA: Dr. Saeed Hamidiyan, a prominent literary researcher and university professor, has dedicated his efforts to various aspects of Persian literature, particularly focusing on Hafez’s poetry. He has authored several valuable works, including a seven-volume commentary on Hafez’s Divan, and a book titled “An Introduction to Hafez’s Prosody.”

In an interview with the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA), Dr. Hamidiyan discussed the importance of literary research and the challenges faced in publishing academic works. He emphasized the profound impact of classical Persian poets like Hafez on Iranian culture and identity, stating that understanding their works provides “illumination for these dark days.”

Challenges in Literary Research

He explained that the process of compiling his multi-volume work on Hafez spanned several years, involving meticulous textual analysis and critical evaluation. “Each line, each word, required careful consideration to uncover its deeper meanings and historical context,” Hamidiyan said.

The professor also touched upon the economic difficulties faced by publishers and authors in Iran, which can hinder the dissemination of scholarly works. Despite these challenges, he expressed optimism about the enduring appeal of literature and the potential for new generations of researchers to contribute to the field.

Future Projects

Regarding future endeavors, Dr. Hamidiyan hinted at ongoing research into the structural and thematic transformations in Hafez’s poetry, hoping to publish another comprehensive study soon.
