A Gnostic, Not Mythical, Interpretation of the Story of Prophet Joseph; Manifestations of Wisdom and Mysticism in “The Story of Joseph”
The book “The Story of Joseph” (Qessat-e Youssef), written by Dr. Seyyed Morteza Mirhoseini, a professor at Payam-e Noor University, was introduced as an analytical and gnostic interpretation, not a mythical one, of the life of Prophet Joseph (PBUH) from birth to prophethood. This book highlights the philosophical and mystical aspects of Joseph’s story. The author emphasizes that his interpretation differs from historical or narrative accounts, focusing on profound spiritual meanings.
Speaking at the book introduction ceremony, Mirhoseini stated that he aimed to explore the deeper, mystical layers of the story, moving beyond superficial readings. He noted that the story of Joseph, as presented in the Quran, offers numerous lessons in wisdom and divine knowledge.
He further elaborated on the methodology of his research, explaining that he delved into various philosophical and Sufi texts to provide a comprehensive understanding of the ethical and spiritual dimensions embedded in the narrative. The book argues that Prophet Joseph’s journey is a symbol of the human soul’s ascent towards divine realization.
The ceremony concluded with a discussion session where attendees engaged with the author about the unique insights offered by the book.
