“The Night Of Jawaharlal Nehru” Program Due In Tehran


Persian Magazine ‘Bukhara’ will hold a program, “The Night of Jawaharlal Nehru” in cooperation with India’sEmbassy in Tehran to commemorate the leading Indian politician and author Jawaharlal Nehru According to correspondent, after holding earlier programs on India and Indian outstanding figures, this event is held today in of the Thinkers of Humanities’ House. As well as being a central figure of Indian independence movement and the first prime minister of independent India who adopted a nonaligned approach to his foreign policy, Jawaharlal Nehru was also a prolific writer. He wrote several books, such as ‘The Discovery of India’, ‘Glimpses of World History’, and his autobiography, ‘Toward Freedom’. “The Night of Jawaharlal Nehru” will feature lectures given by India’s ambassador to Tehran Saurabh Kumar; The editor of Persian Culture and Art Magazine Ali Dehbashi; as well as Iranian scholars Noush-Afarin Ansari, Fereidoun Majlesi, Farzin Tafazzoli and Adel Shojaei. A documentary film on the life and work of Nehru will also be screened at the program and a collection of his books translated into Persian by the late Mahmoud Tafazzoli will be put on display.
