The Exhibition of First Glass Paintings of ‘Shahnameh’ based on illustrations in a version from Timurid era will be held in Tehran’s Sa’adabad Complex from June 27 to July 4. According to correspondent quoting from the news department of Sa’adabad Palace Cultural-Historical Complex, the exhibition features 19 exquisite glass paintings based on illustrations in a version of ‘Shahnameh’ and from the Timurid dynasty. The opening ceremony of this exhibition is scheduled for Wednesday at 5 to 7 p.m. when the paintings, which have special designs, style, and extremely beautiful and brilliant colors measuring 70×40 centimeters, are put on public display. The glass paintings were produced after two years of study, mending, and reconstruction of original illustrations by Marzieh Sadat Kamanian and her team of female artists, including Yasaman Siavashi, Fatemeh Kahlouei, and Masoumeh Karimian, who created such paintings for the first time. The ‘Shahnameh’ version, which was taken as a model, is contained in the Majlis (Parliament) Library Museum and Documentation Center. Concurrent with displaying these 19 works, a workshop will be held in Sa’adabad Gallery to teach these skills of painting on glass to the interested persons.
