Review of The Trend of Romanticism in Europe at Bukhara Tuesday Sessions
Recently, cultural and literary circles have witnessed numerous developments, ranging from book reviews and publication releases to commemorative events across the country. The 71st meeting of the “Bokhara Tuesday Afternoons” series will be dedicated to the critique and review of the book “The Course of Romanticism in Europe” written by Dr. Masoud Jafari Jazi on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at 5:00 PM at Niavaran Book City. According to a reporter from the Literature Service of the Iranian Book News Agency (IBNA), in this session, Masoud Jafari Jazi, the author of the book, along with Nima Zaheri and Ali Dehbashi, will examine the various dimensions of this work. This book has been published by Sokhan Publication, and attendance at this event is open to enthusiasts of literary criticism and the history of thought.
Romanticism is fundamentally a European phenomenon that spread to other lands and transformed into a global movement encompassing various fields such as literature and philosophy, social and political sciences, architecture, music, painting, cinema, and other areas. It seems that Romanticism accompanies the transition from the classical era to the modern world, and all societies have gone through such an experience during this transition. In the book “The Course of Romanticism in Europe”, primarily three dimensions of Romanticism—literary, social, and philosophical-intellectual—have been taken into consideration. Following an account of the historical course of this term, its definition, and the distinction among various romantic schools and tendencies, the historical, literary, and social backgrounds of the emergence of this school, along with its philosophical and social dimensions, are examined.
Then, the course of Romanticism in Germany, France, and England is analyzed separately, and the final chapters of the book are dedicated to the various aspects of the literary facet of Romanticism, its decline, an evaluation of its heritage, and its lasting impact on subsequent periods. This session will be held at the Niavaran Book City, located on Bahonar (Niavaran) Street, opposite North Kamranieh, Nos. 137 And 135. Meanwhile, the play “Nodbeh”, one of the brilliant works by Bahram Beyzai, the prominent Iranian researcher, playwright, and director, is scheduled to go on stage at Hafez Hall of Rudaki Foundation directed by Arman Shahbazi from late autumn.
In other publishing news, the book “Zen and the Art of Bookkeeping: A Memoir”, written by Lewis Buzbee, is a brilliant example of the combination of personal narratives and memories of the Californian author with the history of books and bookstores. Additionally, “Cooking in the Kremlin: From Rasputin to Putin, Building an Empire with Knife and Fork” written by Witold Szabłowski, the Polish author and journalist, translated by Fatemeh Abbasi, has been published in the “Silent Lines of History” collection by Safir Publication and is available in bookstores nationwide. Following the global success of “Dancing with the Dictators”, this book blends the two seemingly unrelated categories of cooking and politics, and presents a fresh narrative of the history of Russia through recipes. Ebrahim Heydari said in a consultative meeting of active institutions in the field of children and adolescents: “The Iran Book and Literature House, as the coordinating body among publishing guilds, associations, and policy-making institutions, is ready to provide facilities for the operational plans of active institutions in the field of children and adolescents.”
Furthermore, “Regime Change” can be read as more than just a book about Donald Trump; a work that attempts to examine the mechanisms of power in one of the world’s most important political systems. Reading it provides an opportunity to distinguish between reported realities, the authors’ perceptions, and the potential consequences of political developments. An author signing session for the book “Nemat-e Jan” was held simultaneously with Nurse’s Day at the Tehran Friday prayers. The scientific secretary of the 24th edition of selecting the best book of the year for Sacred Defense and Resistance announced the extension of the deadline for submitting works to this literary event and said: “Special attention to works related to the 12-day war and the Ramadan war, the separation of the international and translation sections, and the expansion of support for selected works are among the most important programs of this edition.”
The director of “A Night in the Homeland” said: “This film is an adaptation of a Lebanese novel written by Ghada Al-Samman.” While reading the novel, in the sixth story, I encountered an image that caught my attention: pulling up the basket of someone trapped in the battlefield. This image became a fascinating motif for me, and I decided to use it as the basis for writing the screenplay. The book “A Critical Reading of the Novel A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man” by David Seed, a professor at the University of Liverpool, translated by Manouchehr Badiei, has been released to the market. The book “Goblet and Decanter”, containing the common manifestations of thought and expression in the poetry of Hafez and Shah Nematollah Vali, has been published by Ostad Shahriar Publications. “The Chirping Sound of a Woman” features intensely charming and empathetic prose poetic qualities that occasionally transcend poetic prose to become pure poetry itself, such as “My blue illusion crossed the memory of the sea”. Are these lost worlds merely games of imagination, or do they preserve a part of historical truth within themselves? Nazaman begins with this very question; in this book, Emmanuel Carrère is neither seeking to rewrite the past nor thinking of constructing an imaginary world. What she explores is our very relationship with history; this long-standing belief that the past, having once been actualized, was only the past and could not have been otherwise. The managing director of Hezar-e Ghooqnoos Publishing wrote about the changes and developments of the Frankfurt Book Fair 2026 on the occasion of its holding. The “Mashgh-e Zendegi” Book Club will hold its second meeting on the topic of “The Book of Dos and Don’ts of Sexual Education (from the Perspective of Islam)” on the afternoon of Sunday, Mehr 26, at Sarv Cultural Center.
The cinematic and literary discussions continued as the film begins with a quote by Oscar Wilde: “One should always be in love; that is the reason one should never marry.” Regardless of whether this sentence is right or wrong, it outlines the overall situation of the two main characters as they face a shared life that has spanned many years. What remains is a collection of failures and unachieved goals that seem to manifest themselves more prominently in their shared life. This book clearly fills the gap regarding the focal texts of political development in Iran. Maryam Hosseini, a literary criticism researcher and text scholar, called Reza Seyedhosseini’s book “Literary Schools” the “cornerstone of literary schools in Iran,” stating: “No researcher in this field can produce a valuable work without studying it.”
Praising Seyedhosseini’s mastery as a translator and his translations of Malraux, Sartre, Camus, and Balzac, she pointed out two gaps in the book: the absence of modernism and postmodernism, and the imbalance in the length of the chapters. The book “Yadegar-e Nik” reflects part of the Zoroastrian community’s efforts to preserve the culture and history of Iran and Yazd, and demonstrates the cultural and social bond and alignment between the Zoroastrians and Muslims of Yazd. “Yadegar-e Nik” reminds us of the memories, scents and tastes, sights, sounds, and the names that once were and have passed on. The Blind Owl is not one of those books that you can simply read and then close and set aside. Some novels linger in the mind after they are finished because they have told a good story or created a memorable character. But The Blind Owl lingers in a different way, leaving something settling inside the reader, something akin to air, taste, darkness, and a kind of vague familiarity with a wound that perhaps had already been within a person, but remained nameless. In Fars province, the book Lari Coins; From the Persian Gulf to the Indian Ocean, compiled, edited, and translated by Fatemeh Qomlaqi, was unveiled at the Larestan pavilion during the 2026 Shiraz Expo.
In Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, Aftab Afredoun, a writer from Dehdasht, believes that a major portion of local writers, instead of analyzing the contradictions of power structures within tribes, the tensions arising from facing the transitional era, and class divides, have turned to creating decorative and postcard-like images of the past. In Zanjan, following the warm reception by various segments of the public of the 11th Zanjan Book Fair, the executive secretary of this event announced an extension of visiting hours on Friday and a one-day extension of the exhibition until the end of Saturday. Beyond a romantic narrative set against the backdrop of the Russian Revolution, this work reflects a fundamental question regarding the fate of the individual and personal morality in a world overshadowed by history and ideology. Professor Prigarina has received numerous international awards and honors from Pakistan, India, and Iran, among which are the gold medal for best Persian language professor awarded by the Iranian government before the Islamic Revolution and the World Book Award of the Islamic Republic of Iran for her translation of the Masnavi in 2010. We also look at a street that no one falls in love on anymore, a narrative about Javad Mojabi, a poet who wrote for twenty years without being published, ranging from his former Shahreza Street and the hangouts of Omar to dusty novels that waited years for authorization.

Finally, the CEO of the Iran Book and Literature House, speaking at the academic board meeting of the 19th Jalal Al-e Ahmad Literary Award regarding the necessity of maintaining the award’s prestige, stated that one of the ways to preserve the brand credibility of this award is that if in any category the jury does not find a worthy and remarkable work, they should not insist on introducing a selected winner.
In conclusion, these diverse cultural reports and literary updates highlight the ongoing dedication of artists, scholars, and publishers across various fields to enrich the literary and historical heritage of the community.
