Public Libraries; The Permanent Home of Writers
The National Library and Archives Organization of Iran, in collaboration with the Public Libraries of the Country, announced a program to celebrate “National Library Day” (November 17) and “Book Week.” This initiative aims to highlight the role of public libraries in fostering reading culture and supporting authors.
According to IBNA, the Iranian Book News Agency, public libraries have long served as vital cultural centers, providing access to knowledge for all segments of society. They are not merely repositories of books but dynamic spaces that promote intellectual discourse and creative expression.
This year’s focus will be on the invaluable connection between public libraries and writers. Many prominent Iranian authors have credited libraries as the foundation of their literary journeys, offering them resources, inspiration, and a quiet space for creation.
“Libraries are truly the permanent homes for writers, offering a sanctuary for research and creativity,” said a representative from the Public Libraries Foundation. “We are committed to strengthening this bond and ensuring libraries continue to be fertile ground for new literary works.”
Events planned for the week include reading sessions, workshops for emerging writers, and discussions with established authors, all emphasizing the symbiotic relationship between libraries and the literary community.
