The 7th Tehran Short Film Studies Conference, by announcing the names of the selected articles, has taken an important step towards the scientific and research review of adaptation in this field. This conference, held with a focus on adaptation in short film, began by receiving 118 article abstracts and essays from researchers. After reviews and evaluations by the conference’s scientific council, 53 abstracts were advanced to the second stage from among the 118 submissions. Finally, after additional evaluations, 16 articles were selected for presentation at the conference venue and publication in the collection of articles.

The 7th Tehran Short Film Studies Conference uses a scientific-research approach to specifically examine adaptation in short film. The goal of holding this conference is to exchange views and enhance knowledge in this field. Given the time limitations in short film, adapting literary or dramatic texts presents special challenges. This conference seeks to examine specific approaches in the adaptation process, including selective adaptation, summarization and abbreviation, changes in point of view and narrative, and the use of visual and symbolic language in short film adaptation.

This scientific event aims to create a bridge between theory and practice in the field of adaptation, bringing together researchers and filmmakers to answer questions surrounding the role of new theories in understanding adaptation and how filmmakers’ experiences influence theories. It should be noted that the offices of the Iranian Youth Cinema Society also have an active presence in this conference and support the production of adapted short films.
