Seifollah Vahidinia; A Name That Lived in the History of Iranian Culture with the Magazine “Vahid”

According to Khabaronline News Agency, quoting IBNA, in September 1926, in Dastgerd, Isfahan, a child was born whose destiny became tied to various names and paths; an infant whom they first called Manouchehr, but in his birth certificate, he became Seifollah, and later, in the cultural society of Iran, he was known as Seifollah Vahidinia. At the age of 6, he entered the ‘Kamaluddin’ elementary school and continued his education in the old and reputable schools of Isfahan; where the first sparks of his interest in literature were ignited under the guidance of masters like Sheikh Asadollah Izadgoshsb and Seyyed Mohammad Sadr Hashemi. On Fridays, Dastgerd Garden was the hangout spot for him and his masters; where he learned lessons of life and manners amidst flowing streams and simple lunches.

Vahidinia, in his youth, took up writing and sent his first poems and writings to Isfahan’s publications. His interest in knowledge led him from the job market to the Faculty of Law in Tehran and finally to Sorbonne in Paris; where, in addition to learning modern sciences, he undertook the editorship of the Danesh magazine and student guild activities. His return to Iran marked the beginning of a new chapter: the birth of a dynamic press and publishing institution whose name later became associated with ‘Vahid’ magazine, a printing house, the Iranian National News Agency, and dozens of other cultural activities.

Birth to Education: In September 1926 in Dastgerd, Isfahan, Abbas Vahid Dastjerdi became the father of a baby boy whom he named Manouchehr, but when he went to the civil registry office to issue his son’s birth certificate, he chose the name Seifollah for him, and his birth certificate was issued under the name Seifollah Vahid with number 11182. Therefore, until the lifetime of his relatives, they called the person on the birth certificate Manouchehr, and society recognized him as Seifollah Vahidinia after changing his surname from Vahid to Vahidinia.
