Municipalities must be proactive in solving the problems of public libraries

According to the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) in Noor, a meeting of the Public Libraries Association of Noor County was held with the aim of removing long-standing library obstacles, attended by Abdolvahhab Feyazi, representative of the people of Noor and Mahmoudabad counties in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, and a group of city officials.

Abdolvahhab Feyazi, referring to the situation of public libraries in the county, stated: Noor libraries are in a favorable condition in terms of location and resources, but their legal land issues have prevented equipment upgrades and service expansion.

He considered public libraries a great capacity for cultural promotion in cities and added: Our serious concern is non-reading in society, and the continuation of existing administrative and legal obstacles intensifies this problem, while libraries should have the best facilities to serve the people.

The representative of the people of Noor and Mahmoudabad in the Islamic Consultative Assembly emphasized the necessity of solving problems at the county level and stated: These problems must be resolved through cooperation and synergy among local authorities, and municipalities, as the institution responsible for city management, should play a proactive and facilitating role in solving public library problems, not an inhibiting one.

Feyazi stated that the people of Noor County deserve the best cultural services and facilities, adding: Providing minimal cultural services is not suitable for this county, and a significant portion of the current situation results from unresolved legal issues.

In the continuation of this meeting, the legal and operational issues of public libraries in the cities of Noor, Ahoudasht, Royan, and Izadshahr were raised, and it was decided that necessary follow-ups would be carried out in coordination with relevant authorities to determine the status of these matters.
