Publication of the book ‘Cultural and Artistic Needs Assessment of Tehran Citizens’ in the publishing market
According to Iran’s Book News Agency (IBNA), this book addresses the concept of “need” as a multifaceted phenomenon in human society. In addition to material and objective needs such as food, housing, and health, it covers symbolic and qualitative needs like education, art, study, leisure, and social belonging. The author emphasizes the importance of cultural and artistic needs in shaping citizens’ meaning, taste, and lived experience, presenting “cultural and artistic needs assessment” as a necessary process for designing and implementing effective programs in the urban space.
The book is based on five interconnected research studies conducted across the eastern, western, northern, southern, and central areas of Tehran. Employing survey methods, questionnaires, and interviews, it identifies the cultural and artistic needs of Tehran citizens.
This work analyzes a wide range of needs, including artistic and non-artistic education, concerts, film and cinema, theater and performance, festivals, extracurricular activities, sports activities and competitions, exhibitions and galleries, cultural and artistic centers, conferences and seminars, meetings and lectures, books and reading, and publications, as well as cultural, artistic, and recreational spaces and centers.
The findings and data from this book can serve as a scientific basis for designing and developing cultural and artistic development programs in the 22 districts of Tehran, to be used by urban managers, planners, and cultural institutions.
