Fani; A Precious Jewel and Honorable Intellectual

According to the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA), quoting the public relations department of the National Library and Archives of Iran, following the passing of the late Kamran Fani, researcher, translator, and influential figure in the field of books and library science, Gholamreza Amirkhan, head of the National Library and Archives of Iran, issued a message, expressing deep sorrow and sympathy, and acknowledging the scientific standing and lasting role of this educated figure in elevating the culture and knowledge of library science.

The text of the message from the head of the National Library and Archives of Iran is as follows:

«Every soul on earth shall perish.

The passing of Kamran Fani, researcher, translator, and influential figure in the field of books and library science, caused deep sorrow and sympathy. His name was tied to scientific precision, professional meticulousness, and persistent efforts to strengthen the knowledge infrastructure of bibliography, cataloging, and reference services. His works and professional conduct will remain a standard and inspiration for generations of book enthusiasts.

Fani was a precious jewel and an honorable intellectual who dedicated his life to serving the elevation of Iranian culture and thought. Throughout his scientific life, in addition to the written works he authored and translated, he had effective collaborations with important cultural and scientific institutions such as the National Library and Archives of Iran, the Center for the Great Islamic Encyclopedia, and the Academy of Persian Language and Literature.

I offer condolences for this loss to his dear family, friends, and colleagues, librarians, and the country’s scientific and cultural community, praying for patience for the survivors and divine mercy and peace for the late intellectual.»
