Water leak at Louvre; 400 historical books damaged
According to Khabaronline News Agency, a museum spokesman told CNN: The leak, which occurred on November 26, damaged 300 to 400 books. These books date from the late 19th century to the early 20th century.
The leak happened when a tap in an old plumbing system – which is no longer active – was accidentally opened. According to the museum spokesman, this system had been shut off several months ago and is scheduled to be replaced during a renovation project starting in September 2026.
