Elections for the ‘Digital Book Publishers Union’ will be held
According to a reporter from the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA), simultaneously with the acceleration of digital transformations in the publishing industry, a group of activists in the field of production and distribution of electronic books are gathering to form the country’s first professional association for digital publishers.
The general assembly and elections for the board of directors of the ‘Digital Book Publishers Union’ will be held on Tuesday, December 9th, 2025, where attending members will directly elect the first board of directors of this union.
According to IBNA, with the expansion of new technologies and an increased share of digital content in the country’s cultural basket, the e-book market has experienced significant growth in recent years. However, digital publishers still face challenges such as legal issues, intellectual property infringement, the absence of a reference professional body, and structural deficiencies.
According to the organizers, the formation of this union can be a turning point in organizing the activities of digital publishers; an opportunity for synergy, exchange of experience, development of professional standards, and pursuit of professional demands. It is also expected that this association will play an effective role in improving the quality of digital content production, supporting publishers’ rights, and strengthening electronic publishing infrastructures.
According to experts, the formation of the Digital Book Publishers Union can accelerate healthy competition, innovation, and the development of the digital publishing industry, paving the way for Iran’s more prominent role in the creative economy and the global e-book market.
The general assembly and elections for the board of directors of the ‘Digital Book Publishers Union’ will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at 3:00 PM at the Iran House of Book and Literature, located on Enghelab Street, after Palestine Street, basement floor, Book Hall.
