A Camp That Transformed Books into a Lively Experience for Children

Maliheh Asadi, in an interview with an IRNA (Iran Book News Agency) reporter, stated that the ‘Book Ambassadors’ jihadi camps are one of the most successful methods of promoting reading in rural areas. She noted: These camps take books out of the formal library setting and place them in the heart of children’s daily lives. When storytelling, creative workshops, and cultural activities are held alongside children and in their own language and dialect, books become a close and appealing friend to them, not a dry school assignment.

She added: These programs create an emotional and cultural bond between children and books, and this intimate connection will pave the way for forming a reading habit from an early age.

Holding the 25th Book Ambassadors Camp

The head of Ferdows Public Libraries Department further announced the holding of the 25th ‘Book Ambassadors’ camp for students in the villages of Fathabad, Gostaj, and Badamook, saying: This program was held at the Abulfazli Association in Fathabad village and was welcomed by the students.

Asadi, describing the programs implemented in this period, added: Storytelling in local dialect and attire with the stories of ‘The Magic Spell’ and ‘The King’s Daughter’, creative storytelling with the narration of ‘Kachal Kaftar Baz’ and ‘The Book of Wisdom’, and introducing the collection ‘Good Stories for Good Children’ were among the sections of this camp.

She continued: In the book introduction section, works such as ‘Pray for Your Neighbor: Five Hadiths from Lady Fatimah Zahra (PBUH)’ from the collection of Hadith and Poetry, and pictorial stories from Masnavi were presented to the students.

Asadi, referring to the implementation of the bookmark-making workshop, said: ‘In this section, children, by making a dog-face bookmark, not only experienced creativity but also established a more joyful and tangible connection with books.’
