Creating Illustrated Books with Artificial Intelligence
According to the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA), citing Boston, the Harvard Coop bookstore, in cooperation with the Storyfave platform, allows customers to design their own illustrated books on-site with the help of artificial intelligence. Users can create a book draft for free, purchase a digital version, or order a hardcover print version starting from $35.
The store recently installed a new machine in its premises that allows customers to create personalized illustrated books using artificial intelligence.
This collaboration with Storyfave, an AI-based book-making platform capable of producing illustrated books in minutes, was announced on Tuesday.
Jodi Goldstein, CEO of Coop, said in a press statement: “Bringing Storyfave to the Coop reflects our vision for blending tradition and innovation. Books are sacred, and with Storyfave, AI doesn’t act as an author but rather as a guide to help people record and shape the stories that matter most to them. It’s a wonderful way to honor our history while inviting Harvard and MIT students and the broader community to imagine how stories will be told in the new era of AI.”
Storyfave was founded in 2024 by Harvard alumni Brian Romero and Anchanok (Khamsai) Navaprek. In its first year of operation, the company has produced over 1,500 custom books, including children’s picture books, memory books for wedding celebrations or commemorating loved ones, and even books introducing companies and their missions.
At the Coop store, customers can use Storyfave’s AI tool to create a free draft of their book. They can also get a digital version for $15 or order a hardcover print version along with the digital version starting from $35.
Goldstein added: “We have always celebrated ideas, creativity, and the people who bring them to life. Through the Coop Collective program, we support Harvard and MIT innovators like Storyfave’s founders, giving our community a space to explore, create, and share ideas that honor both tradition and imagination. It’s not just about technology; it’s about empowering human creativity to flourish in new forms.”
