Municipalities’ share in public library development will double

According to the correspondent of Iran’s Book News Agency (IBNA) in Garmsar, Yaser Arabi on Tuesday considered the equitable development of cultural facilities in these cities one of the serious demands, speaking among librarians and officials of public libraries and the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance in Garmsar and Aradan counties at his office.

He stated that the pursuit of equitable development of cultural facilities is being followed up at the provincial and even national levels, adding: It is necessary for the managers of Islamic Guidance and public libraries and other cultural institutions to report deficiencies and required credits.

The representative of Garmsar and Aradan in the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Parliament) said: The Integration Commission is working on a plan to increase municipalities’ share for library development from half a percent to one percent.

Arabi, stating that the proposal to increase municipalities’ share from half a percent to one percent is being raised in the Integration Commission with the aim of compensating for a part of the shortcomings and credit needs of libraries in various cities of our country, said: We hope to be able to bring significant benefits to public libraries from this matter.

He added that issues related to the livelihood of librarians are another topic that they are trying to pursue, adding: All our efforts are to witness good development in the cultural sector.
