350 book titles published in Ilam during 8 months this year

Younes Gheytani told the reporter of Iran’s Book News Agency (IBNA) in Ilam: In 1403 (2024-2025), a total of 300 book titles were published in the province, and in the first 8 months of the current year, this number increased to 350 titles, which indicates the dynamic movement of the printing and publishing industry in the province.

He continued: In Ilam province, 55 publishers are active in various fields, including Persian and Kurdish language and literature, folklore and local works, children’s and young adult literature, sacred defense and resistance literature, religious and ritual literature, humanities, scientific, and educational fields.

The Cultural and Media Deputy of the General Directorate of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Ilam emphasized: The presence of local authors and emerging young writers from Ilam has also brought a fresh dynamism to the province’s printing and publishing scene in recent years.

Gheytani further referred to facilities for Ilam publishers and said: Publishers in the province received about 900 million Tomans in financial resources this year from facilities under Note 18, and these facilities were mostly paid for the development of publishing infrastructure, procurement of necessary equipment, and upgrading of publishers’ workspaces.

Gheytani continued: The publishing industry in the province plays an important role in the dynamism of the target community and those interested in books and reading, and one of the influential currents in the development and flourishing of the culture of books and reading in the province is the cultural efforts of publishers and authors, which we in the General Directorate of Culture and Islamic Guidance of the province support to the best of our ability.

The author of the book, ‘Dirty Boots’, continued: Fortunately, in recent years, Ilam publishers and authors have taken effective steps by compiling and publishing books tailored to the daily needs of society and the diverse interests of the audience.

The Cultural and Media Affairs Deputy of the General Directorate of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Ilam province noted: Ilam publishers can increase the attractiveness of reading by selecting and publishing high-quality and diverse books. These works should cover various scientific, literary, historical, and cultural fields to appeal to different segments of society. Additionally, publishers can identify the cultural and scientific needs of society and publish books that fill existing gaps in the publishing market.

Gheytani, referring to the publication of suitable and relevant books by authors, said: Authors can attract more attention to books by writing new works based on current societal issues. Books that address contemporary social, economic, political, and scientific issues and respond to people’s daily concerns can help create motivation for study and reading.

He continued: Elevating the cultural taste of society is one of the duties of publishers and authors, and these two industrious groups, by introducing and publishing cultural works, can enhance the cultural taste and preference of society. Good books can help in the mental and intellectual development of individuals and turn them into aware and cultured individuals. This, in turn, will have a positive impact on the society and the overall culture of the country.

According to IBNA, currently, 55 publishing houses, 12 printing presses, and 60 digital printing houses, totaling 75 printing service centers, are active in Ilam province.
