9 Years of Reminiscing with the Golden Voice of Ardabil

According to Khabaronline news agency from Ardabil province, nine years ago on this very day, Salim Moazzenzadeh, after decades of dedicating his voice to Sayyid al-Shuhada (Imam Hussein), bid farewell to the mortal world and left the people of Ardabil in perpetual mourning and sorrow.

This esteemed eulogist of the Shiite world was born on October 7, 1936, and in the Tazeh Shahr neighborhood of Ardabil, he learned all the sciences and rules of eulogy and adhan (call to prayer) from his late father, Abdolkarim Moazzenzadeh Ardabili.

Having a strong interest in traditional Iranian music, he was able to create lasting eulogies with his beautiful voice and unique tone, giving a different atmosphere to the mourning ceremonies of Imam Hussein and Fatimah for over half a century.

This unparalleled phenomenon of contemporary eulogy, who was unique in memorizing and reciting the poems of various poets, especially Taj al-Shoara Yahyavi, always tried during his eulogies to avoid weak and shallow poems, and instead focus on reciting the unique and enduring poems of contemporary and past poets, thereby showcasing a beautiful aspect of passionate eulogy for the Ahl al-Bayt (Household of the Prophet).

Salim Moazzenzadeh, whose voice, according to himself, was dedicated to Sayyid al-Shuhada (Imam Hussein), after years of fame and renown and demonstrating eternal love for the Ahl al-Bayt, passed away on November 22, 2016, and was laid to rest in Behesht-e Zahra cemetery in Ardabil, in the section for luminaries, while he had himself wished for the eulogy “Zeynab Zeynab” to be played at his funeral and burial ceremony.
