Winners of the 10th Lorestan Book of the Year Award Introduced / Unveiling of 55 Book Titles

According to the correspondent of the Iranian Book News Agency (IBNA) in Khorramabad, the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance stated at this ceremony: “In Islamic civilization, the semantic core began with the Quran, and the semantic core of Iran is also with books, and Iran is interpreted and defined by books.”

Salehi, stating that Iranian civilization is a civilization of books, said: “The culture of books and reading must endure, and books should be created in multiple forms, because books are the semantic text of Iran and should manifest and emerge in various artistic forms.”

He further reiterated that Iranian civilization is a civilization of books, and emphasized that the culture of books and reading must remain enduring, and books should be created in multiple forms, as books represent the semantic core of Iran and must be witnessed and expressed in various artistic manifestations.

Salehi emphasized that the meaningful regions of Iran build and recreate this country, adding: “Lorestan province has historical and cultural capacities, and the nature of Zagros also has specific meanings, and given that there is a relationship between nature, existence, and meaning, this region gives special meanings to Iranian civilization.”

Referring to Lorestan’s artistic capacity, the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance said: “Special connections have been established between the art of this province and Iranian civilization, and its bronze artifacts give us a particular interpretation of Iran, without which our understanding of Iran would be incomplete.”

Salehi referred to Lorestan’s capacity for poetry and song, adding: “A part of Iran’s identity throughout history has been the people of Lorestan.”

He pointed out that during the 12-day war, the depth of Iranian identity was forged in this region, and rare epics occurred, stating: “There are significant gaps between Lorestan’s potential and the actions taken, and for understanding Iran, more attention should be paid to this meaningful region.”

Azam Ravanshad, also at this ceremony, emphasized the importance of books and publishing in strengthening cultural identity, calling the slogan “Let’s Read for Iran” more than a simple invitation to read, describing it as a return to the roots of knowledge and the source of Iranian civilization.

The Director General of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Lorestan considered the Lorestan Book of the Year Award as a symbol of the maturity of a cultural movement that, with the cooperation of academics, writers, and publishers, has been able to transmit thought and identity in the form of books to the present generation.

He added: “This event is not just an awards ceremony, but a measure of the quality of thought production and an encouragement for the expansion of the publishing ecosystem in a province with a rich history of narrative, poetry, research, and ethnography.”

The Director General of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Lorestan, referring to the presence of Salehi, the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, at this ceremony, said: “The new policies of the Ministry of Culture in the publishing sector—from supporting quality content to strengthening the book production chain—have created a historical opportunity for the provinces.”

Ravanshad continued: “In Lorestan, efforts have been made to turn this opportunity into empowering publishing servants, reducing publishers’ concerns, developing libraries, and facilitating the path for writers.”

Addressing the writers, researchers, and publishers present at the ceremony, he said: “You are the guardians of this land’s cultural memory. If Iran today needs hope and collective wisdom, this need is answered more than anywhere else in books, and today, more than ever, the link between publishing, academia, and society must be strengthened so that the knowledge produced illuminates people’s lives.”

While congratulating the winners of the 10th Lorestan Province Book of the Year Award, Ravanshad thanked all publishing activists who have kept the light of books burning despite difficulties, expressing hope: “Together, and for Iran, let’s read, think, and build.”
