Holding Cultural Programs at Leilamahr Vashnamdari Library
According to the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) in Zahedan, a visual creativity workshop was held with Hadiseh Ghorban. Having been with the children since the early days of the library’s activities, she once again introduced children step-by-step to illustration with simple and fundamental design methods. Her practical exercises and understandable explanations made the children more interested in creating images.
Later in the week, a book reading circle was held online with Parvin Panahi, a children’s and young adult author. Children discussed the book ‘Prince Shir Polo’ and each had questions that they directly asked the author. This close interaction was a new and motivating experience for the children.
A Shahnameh reading class was also held online with Masoumeh Mousavian from the Ferdowsi Foundation. She narrated parts of the Shahnameh to children with a delightful expression and explained the concepts of heroism and wisdom, which play an important role in the stories.
On one of the days this week, a book browsing program was also implemented at the library. Children walked in small groups among the shelves, flipped through books, and talked about various topics. For many of them, this book browsing was like a short trip to a colorful world; each shelf held a new adventure. Some chose storybooks, some went for illustrated covers, and others curiously flipped through scientific books. This free presence among the shelves allowed children to gain a new perspective on books by experiencing the joy of selection.
Overall, the Book Week programs at Leilamahr Vashnamdari Library were met with significant enthusiasm from children and once again demonstrated that simple but continuous activities can play an important role in promoting reading and creating motivation among the new generation. The library also plans to continue these programs throughout the year and provide more space for children’s cultural experiences.
