The ‘Book on a Journey’ Project Launched

According to the correspondent of the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) in Mashhad, the unveiling ceremony of the ‘Book on a Journey’ project was held at the Asalat Traditional Guesthouse in Mashhad with the aim of promoting reading culture and improving the cultural level of tourists in Khorasan Razavi Province.

This project, which started at the Asalat Traditional Guesthouse in Mashhad, has been implemented with the participation of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Khorasan Razavi and the General Directorate of Public Libraries of the province.

In this meeting, Seyed Javad Mousavi, the Director General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Khorasan Razavi, said: Khorasan Razavi, with 230 traditional and eco-tourism guesthouses, is one of the provinces with the highest number of accommodation units in the country, hosting a large number of domestic and foreign tourists and pilgrims every year.

He added: Based on this project, book shelves and a collection of books in the fields of tourism, history, and literature, in various languages including Persian, Arabic, and English, will be placed in the traditional and eco-tourism guesthouses of the province so that guests and tourists can read and enrich their leisure time during their stay.

Donation of 100 books to each guesthouse

Mousavi, referring to the first phase of this project, added: In the first phase of this project, 12 book shelves have been delivered to eco-tourism and traditional accommodation units, and 100 books have also been donated to each guesthouse.

He stated: This action is considered an important step towards transforming tourism facilities into cultural centers and creating a pleasant and educational environment for tourists.

In another part of this meeting, Hossein Nourbakhsh, the acting director-general of Public Libraries of Khorasan Razavi Province, referred to the importance of books and reading and stated: The ‘Book on a Journey’ project can play a significant role in increasing the per capita study rate and promoting reading culture among tourists, as well as boosting cultural tourism in Khorasan Razavi Province.

Nourbakhsh said: This project is an initiative implemented with the participation of the public and private sectors and will certainly have fruitful results.

This project can be implemented as a model in other provinces of the country

He stated: Given the importance of this project and its high potential in promoting the cultural level of society, it is hoped that this project will be implemented as a model in other provinces of the country as well.

According to IBNA; The ceremony was attended by the advisor to the Governor of Khorasan Razavi, the Director General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Khorasan Razavi, the acting director-general of Public Libraries of Khorasan Razavi Province, the head of the Association of Tourism Organizations of the province, the head of the Association of Eco-tourism and Traditional Guesthouses of Khorasan Razavi, and activists in the field of tourism and cultural heritage.
