17,000 Book Titles Host Book and Reading Enthusiasts on Kish Island
According to Khabaronline News Agency from Kish, Asadollah Alizadeh, during the press conference of the Sixth Kish Book Fair, stated that offering books with special discounts makes the exhibition a model for free zones, capable of institutionalizing reading culture more than ever. The 90% public turnout in previous editions of this exhibition indicates Kish society’s interest in reading.
He added: The Sixth Kish Book Fair started on Saturday, the first of Azar (November 22nd), and will continue for 9 days. In this edition, over 300 domestic publishers are hosting book and reading enthusiasts by offering more than 17,000 book titles.
The head of the Cultural and Social Affairs Deputy of Kish Free Zone Organization, referring to the extensive scope of the exhibition, added: This event, with the slogan ‘Books, a Window to Life’, is being held in an area of seven thousand square meters with the cooperation of the Cultural Affairs Deputy of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Iran’s Book and Literature House, Alast Cultural and Educational Institute of Kish, and with the support of Kish Free Zone Organization.
Continuing the meeting, Davood Radmand, the manager of Alast Cultural and Educational Institute of Kish and the executor of this event, mentioned the different purchasing method in this edition, stating that visitors can select their desired books from various publishers and receive their purchases all at once at the end of their visit.
According to Radmand, for purchases up to six million Rials, a 50% discount is offered to Kish residents at this exhibition. Purchases exceeding this amount will be calculated with a 10% discount, and educational aid books will be offered with a 25% discount. Additionally, to facilitate visitors’ commute to the exhibition, free round-trip services from different parts of the island have been arranged at specified times.
Radmand mentioned the side programs of this cultural event, stating that alongside the main sections of the exhibition, book reading sessions, book unveiling programs, cultural competitions, Shahnameh reading, ‘Journey to the Land of Stories’ workshop, a book donation station, and special mother-and-child programs are also planned so that visitors of all age groups can benefit from this event.
At the end of this press conference, the official poster of the Sixth Kish Book Fair was unveiled in the presence of cultural managers and media representatives.
