Imam Sajjad (AS) Mosque Book Cafe Opens in Kerman
According to the reporter of Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) in Kerman, Imam Sajjad (AS) Mosque in Kerman, located on Qudusi Street, is one of the oldest mosques in Kerman, not only serving as a place for congregational prayers but also as a hub for cultural and educational programs.
This mosque has a Basij base, a library, a Salehin circle, and hosts book reading programs; this time, with an innovative plan, a mosque book cafe was launched to promote books and reading.
Hujjat al-Islam Arab, the Imam of Imam Sajjad (AS) Mosque, said: ‘Thanks to the sisters who spontaneously worked in this mosque and created conditions for promoting books and reading; appreciating them means come and welcome this initiative and study in this environment that has been provided.’
He added: ‘The library is open for sisters on even days and for brothers on odd days. We would be happy if our dear neighbors and fellow citizens support us in this regard so that we can be encouraged to implement more and better plans and programs.’
Continuing, the head of the Imam Sajjad (AS) Mosque library said: ‘The Yusuf Zahra Cultural and Artistic Center and the Martyr Taghizadeh Library were established in 2008. This library has approximately 4,850 different books, on topics such as: interpretations, biographies of martyrs and Ahl al-Bayt, children and youth, and other titles.’
She added: ‘This library currently has about 70 active members from young and adolescent age groups, and we accept members from 5 to 50 years old.’
Mehdizadeh noted: ‘Since August of this year, preparations for launching the book cafe have been ongoing for three months. The book cafe’s activities are based on age groups, and we have various programs planned accordingly.’
She stated: ‘Our future plan for the center and library is for families to also study alongside their children, and we have a program called ‘Wednesdays with Books.’ In this program, children introduce the books they have read between prayers.’
