Be Mindful, Iran Conveys a Message to You

History and Politics Service of Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) – Anahid Khazir: The ‘National Conference on Theoretical and Epistemological Foundations of Iranology’ was held on Sunday, November 17, 2025, by the Faculty of Literature and Humanities in Iqbal Ashtiani Hall. This conference took place at a time when both ‘Iran’ and ‘Iranology’ have once again become intellectual and public issues. On one hand, a wealth of historical, literary, archaeological, and artistic texts has presented us with an accumulated yet incongruous image of Iran; and on the other hand, contemporary intellectual and social developments have brought the question of Iranian identity, the historical continuity of the ‘Iranian world,’ and our relationship with today’s world to the forefront of discussions. In such an atmosphere, Iranology cannot be considered merely a specialized field on the periphery of humanities; Iranology itself has become a subject of contemplation: a discipline that must consciously formulate its theoretical foundations and epistemological apparatus to transcend scattered descriptions and contribute to a theoretical self-awareness about Iran.
