Campaign ‘City in the Mirror of Books’ Held in Sistan and Baluchestan

According to the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) in Zahedan, simultaneously with the 33rd edition of the Islamic Republic of Iran Book Week, the promotional campaign ‘City in the Mirror of Books’ was held in this province.

Davood Sayyad, Deputy for Cultural and Media Affairs of the General Department of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Sistan and Baluchestan, announced this news and said: This campaign was designed and implemented with the aim of utilizing leisure time during work for study by people of various professions.

The executive director of the 33rd edition of the provincial Book Week added: Within the framework of this campaign, colleagues, activists, and promoters of reading, by being present at the workplaces of various professions and donating books to them, requested that they dedicate time to reading at their workplace and that their workplace also become a place for promoting reading. This action is especially intended for professions whose owners or their clients have free time during the day.

Sayyad, referring to the impact of reading on the quality of life and even professional matters of individuals, said: Communication with centers and businesses participating in this campaign will be continuous to take an effective step towards developing the culture of reading.

He noted: This year’s Book Week is being held with the central slogan ‘Let’s Read for Iran’ and with the cooperation of various cultural institutions and numerous programs throughout Sistan and Baluchestan province.

According to this report, other programs of the Book Week in this province include a ‘Big Reading Event’, ‘Holding a Workshop on Pathology of Book Promotional Activities’ with the presence of librarians, book promoters, and cultural and artistic institutions, as well as establishing a ‘Book Passage’ in cooperation with the Municipality’s Cultural and Artistic Organization for selling new and second-hand books and holding book unveiling, introduction, and criticism sessions.
