TEHRAN – “Safavid Persia in the Age of Empires: The Idea of Iran Vol. 10” by Willem Floor has been published in Persian.

Mohammad-Hassan Mahdian is the translator of the book, which has been released by Hirmand Publications.

As the most comprehensive study to date on the history of Safavid Iran (1501-1736), this book offers a detailed account of the Safavid state’s political structure, social dynamics, and economic conditions. It delves into the daily lives of the Safavid people, from various social strata, and their interactions with the state.

Willem Floor is an independent scholar based in Washington, D.C. He was formerly a World Bank energy expert and has published extensively on the social and economic history of Iran. His notable works include “The Persian Gulf: The Rise and Demise of Local Control” and “The Dutch East India Company in the Persian Gulf.”

Hirmand Publications is known for its series on the “History of Iran,” which aims to provide accessible, scholarly research on different periods of Iranian history.
