According to the correspondent of Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) in Bandar Abbas, Anoushirvan Pishdar, in a coordination meeting with a group of officials and representatives of the province’s cultural organizations, emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation among cultural institutions to promote reading culture and implement joint programs during Book Week, stating: The ‘Book Donation’ plan also started in Hormozgan Book Week.
The Director-General of Hormozgan Public Libraries announced the implementation of the ‘Book Donation’ plan during Book Week and said: Many families have books at home that they have read and no longer use. Through this plan, we invite people to donate their books to public libraries for public use, so that these resources can be distributed among less privileged libraries.
He continued: Book Week is an opportunity for synergy among cultural institutions and to promote reading culture in society. We must strive to implement effective and public cultural programs so that books and libraries find their true place in people’s lives.
Pishdar, referring to the role of libraries in cultural development, added: Public libraries are complementary to the country’s educational system and should provide a space for students, university students, and researchers to benefit from their scientific and cultural facilities.
The Director-General of Hormozgan Public Libraries further added: Our goal is for libraries to be not only places for reading but also cultural and social bases for the intellectual growth of society. Achieving this goal requires the participation of all cultural institutions, media, and people.
Anoushirvan Pishdar concluded by appreciating the cooperation of the Philanthropic Assembly and other cultural institutions of the province, noting: By strengthening infrastructures, cultural planning, and active public participation, we can move towards a more literate and aware society.
